FR.06.11 Haze prevention with Mitomycin C Mrukwa-Kominek E., Gierek-Lapinska A., Gierek-Ciaciura S., Pasternak A., Wygledowska-Promienska D., Rokita-Wala I. Department of Ophthalmology, Medical University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland Objective: To evaluate the influence of Mitomycin C (MMC) on haze after PRK. Methods: A prospective study of 40 eyes in 40 patients with refractive error over -6.0D spherical equivalent after PRK with application of 0,02% MMC. In the first group of patients (20 eyes) MMC was applied for 1 minute and in the second group for 2 minutes. Results: The follow-up was 12 months. All procedures and the follow-up time lasted without any complications. The reepithelization time was the same as in the procedures without MMC. No haze and side effects was observed after PRK with MMC. Conclusions: Application of the 0,02% MMC after PRK is an easy method to prevent haze after PRK. Although up till now no side effect has been observed the patients have still to come to regular control visits.
