Abstract
SA.16.06 Therapy of Congenital Dacryostenosis Grewe S., Busse H. University-Eye-Clinic of Münster/Germany The congenital dacryostenosis occurs frequently in about 5% of all newborns. It may occur uni – and bilateral with a familiar disposition for dacryostenosis. In a large number of cases we see a stenosis of the ductus nasolacrimalis due to a persistant membrane of Hasner or due to a mucosa plaque. Besides the congenital stenosis we also find other alterations of the lacrimal system like: aplasia of the canaliculi, saccus or ductus nasolacrimalis; as well as tear duct diverticles or even fistula of the canaliculi or saccus which may lead to permanent epiphora. Facial disorder or dismorphia with involvement of the lacrimal passages has to be accessed separately, involving various disciplins like radiology, ear nose throat, neurosurgerysurgery etc. and therefore needs individual managements and treatments. We will bring up examination- and treatment technics and will demonstrate videos to explain the bicanalicular silastic tube intubation throughout the nose as trained in Münster. We will further work out a flow chart for the daily use in office.
