Universitäts-Augenklinik Würzburg Demographical and environmental factors will raise the number of tumours in the periorbital region, similar to dermatology. Most tumours of the ocular adnexa, especially lid tumours are easily classified by an experienced clinician. Sentinel lymph node biopsy is a new diagnostic tool in treatment of malignant tumours of the ocular adnexa, beside inspection, Biomicroscopy, imaging and histology.
Surgical excision is still the gold standard in tumour treatment of the periorbital region. The application of alternative surgical treatment, e.g. laser treatment and photo dynamic therapy will be discussed.
